A woman has lost more than half her body weight, an amazing 12st 7lbs, to be crowned 2007’s Slimmer of the Year.
Gillian Harvey, 25, from Ashford in Kent, used to weigh 24st 12lbs and wear a dress size 32.
Ms Harvey, who now weighs just 12st 5lbs, was presented with the award, a cash prize of £2,000 and £500 in vouchers at a ceremony in London.

Mother-of-two Ms Harvey said: “My weight had reached the stage when I was embarrassed to look people in the eye.
“I was approaching my 25th birthday and didn’t want to weigh 25st when I got there.”
Ms Harvey suffers from a twisted spine and sciatica, which can sometimes cause her to seize up, making her weight loss all the more remarkable.

During her first pregnancy with daughter Isabelle she gained five stone, which caused her to take action.
She added: “I’ve always been supported by my family and had a good group of friends so I kind of ignored my weight issues.
“It was when I was in labour with my daughter, seeing the worry on my doctor’s face, it made me want to do something.
“I’d go to meetings about diets and you talk about it for an hour and after just go for a Chinese.
“Here you talk but there’s a lot more emphasis on exercise.
“Today just feels amazing. When I first joined I wanted to go for it and be the Slimmer of the Year.
“I didn’t want to just lose a stone and that be it - I’m just overwhelmed.”
